The courses offered at the Institute of History include courses in the fields of Historical, Theoretical and Applied Museology as part of the history curriculum.
Winter semester 2025/26
Introduction to theoretical museology (definitions of museology, museality, museum objects, etc., history of the discipline, role of the object/thing theories) and historical museology. Reflections on the history of collections, chronological overview, analysis of the genesis of the museum phenomenon; current problems (Bernadette Biedermann, course no.: 505.354)
Based on the knowledge imparted in the courses Museology I (Introduction to Historical and Theoretical Museology) and Museology II (Theoretical Museology), this course focuses on specific topics in general museology in the context of their applicability.
